Any suggestions? I'm personally looking at either the Belkin Slim or Core, if anyone knows the differences between them.

Amazon.com: Belkin Slim Backpack (Black/Light Gray): Electronics

Amazon.com: Belkin Core Laptop Backpack (Pitch Black/Soft Gray) fits up to 15.6-Inch laptops: Electronics

The SOLO Vintage Leather one also looks nice.
Amazon.com: SOLO Vintage Laptop Backpack: Clothing

And there's the classic swiss Ibex
    http://www.amazon.com/Swiss-Gear-17...TF8&qid=1339626976&sr=1-1&keywords=swiss+ibex

    Any input would be awesome!

    Thanks!

For what laptop would this be and what esle would you be carrying with it? Just notebooks or class manuals as well? The other option would be a sleeve + normal backpack if the size of the laptop allows for it.

Sony VAIO S in my sig. 15" and around 1 in thick.

Notebooks, random stuff like pencils/pens, and maybe one or two textbooks.

I'd recommend looking at ebags.com to check out the wide variety of backpacks that would fit your laptop and then search around for the best price.

As mentioned in a couple other recent threads, some good guidelines for college bags is to get nothing too flashy (as to not draw attention for theft), have plenty of protection for the laptop, can deal with the wear and tear of fairly rough use, and consider how much extra space you need for textbooks and misc.

You've not going to find a consensus in this thread because there are just way too many options out there. Unfortuantely your links aren't working for me right now so I can't check those out.

Personally, I use a High Sierra Stretch bag and just cause I'm overprotective use both and the pouch in the back and a sleeve simultaneously (a bit overkill perhaps).

Links are still working as of 10:32 PM EST 6/14/2012.

And yeah, the four options I presented are currently my top choices. If you all could give your input on which you would pick and why that would be excellent!

I like the first two better than the last two.

I would stay away from the leather as it just doesn't hold up all that well in the long term when people arent exactly the gentle-est with their backpacks.

I'm not really a fan of the stylings of the swiss, but thats just a personal preference.
