    Hi,

looking for a mouse for my laptop.
It shouldn't be too small though since I'll be mostly using it at home etc.
Will be planning on gaming as well.
I'd prefer it to be wireless though since I tend to have a messy desk.
I've been eying the MX and VX revolution but I've heard some bad things about the MX.
BUT, I'm also open for other mice. I've been using a Logitech MX500 for my desktop a few years now and I really like the ergonomics. I had a G7 1st gen as well but I didn't really like it, although it fit perfectly in my hand - I guess it was the battery and the glossy finish which I didn't like.

Anyways, I'm leaning towards the VX revolution but are there any other mice you guys can recommend?

    Thanks

    Those 2 look pretty slick!
The thing which I like about the VX is that you can squeeze in the USB dongle into the mouse.
    Any more mice like these?

For better portability consider the Microsoft wireless mouse 4000 which has a place underneath to put the dongle. Also consider the Logitech VX Nano with its very small dongle which is stored inside the mouse.

Wow, the Nano VX looks like a winner!
The price seems just right as well.
    Schweet, thanks!

'looking' like a winner doesn't translate into feeling like one. before you're surprised by how different VX nano feels from larger logitech mouse just go to your local bestbuy and try them out in person.

Hong Kong? Should have given me a shout! :D How long will you be there for? I'd recommend going to the Golden computer center in Sham Shui Po, plenty of shops to try mouses in. Microsoft, Logitech, Razer, you name it they've got it!

I'd forget the mouse entirely and go for a trackball. I love the Logitech Marble Mouse (around US$20), and they also have a cordless TrackMan optical. I hate using a mouse.

I have the Vx Revolution and I love it. I felt that the MX had too much of a hump for my liking and I felt that it would give me hand strain, though it fit in my hand very nicely. The Vx nano is nice since it has a small dongle that you don't need to remove before putting the laptop in the bag, but it is a small laptop mouse. The Vx Revolution is, size wise, in between a big and small mouse. I agree that if you are a serious gamer maybe you should stick with wired, but I use my VX for casual gaming(ex DOOM3, XMen Legend etc) and it has worked perfectly, not a single problem. I only wish it had no dongle, but other than that it is awesome. Definitely check it out in the store if you can.

I'll be there over the weekend till Sunday morning.
Yeah, Golden Computer Center is pretty good, might go there. I was thinking about going to the Wanchai computer centre though. Are the prices better at SSP? Can't really say since I haven't been at the Golden Computer Centre in ages.

About the FPS bit: I don't think that using a wireless mouse during gaming is THAT bad tbh. Sure even in a odd chance it does glitch and I die, I won't jump out of a building. As long as the frequency of the glitches stay minimal it's all good.

You get a far bigger selection at SSP, I went to both on wednesday, you get many more stores in SSP too. So the chance are that you will get a better price there.

There are 2 parts to Golden, there is the old part you know off, and then now there is a new part too, when you walk out of the MTR station, the old part is straight ahead, where as the new part, you walk along the right hand side and then you will see a fairly big entrance with escalators to the left and stairs to the right. :D

Do NOT go to Wan Chai computer center at lunch time, that was a serious error that I made the other day...you get half the work force suddenly appearing from no where... and they all disappear at 2pm...so so crowded.

Alright, I went to SSP yesterday. Gotta say the VX and VX Nano were smaller than I expected! The MX was perfect in size but way too expensive for my taste.
Instead I went for the MX620. Definitive plus is that I can remove the battery unlike the other mice.

The VX Nano and Revolution both have changeable batteries. How's the MX620? It's supposed to be relatively large isn't it?

Its actually quite ''thin'', where your thump is located, there is a big chunk missing (well not really missing, but got ergonomics). Which makes it alot smaller in person.

    I hope you mean "thumb", as I don't have a thump. :D

Interesting. I was under the impression as the MX620 was more comparable to the MX revolution size-wise than the VX.

The VX revolution is a tad short towards the back end, but the rest of it fits beautifully, so the base of my palm rests on the table, which is just fine for me.

I have the VX and love it. It is almost the size of a regular desktop mouse, which is fine for me since I don't move around too much.

My only problem is the middle click button; the tactile response isn't nearly as crisp as I'd like it to be. Which is a shame, since the middle button plays such an important role in Firefox.

Yeah the MX620 resembles more the MX Revolution (the naming scheme kind of gives it away). Anyways, I like to rest my entire hand on the mouse so the MX620 is just right for me.

I bought a VX Nano to go with my EeePC 900 and I have been pleasantly suprised at how comfortable this mouse is to use given its size :)

I use a G5 on my desktop so have already been a Logitech mouse fan for a while, but due to size was slightly hesitant about the VX, but it is a damn fine mouse to use!

I LOVE the feel of the scroll wheel lol

It is. Will cost you $10 + shipping. Get it from logitech. Go to their VX revolution page and look for "parts".

I just had to order a second one myself, I never took it out of the USB port and it eventually broke. My total order came to about $17 after shipping.
