I have just bought an Logitech webcam for my laptop.

an Logitech® QuickCam® for Notebooks Deluxe

    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/GB/EN,CRID=2204,CONTENTID=11805

the problem is the capture rate is very slow and stutters every couple of seconds and it is doing my head in.

I think it`s a compatability problem with the via usb chipset in my laptop according to the logitech website.

I have tried it in my desktop pc and it`s fine, it has an sis chipset.

I have downloaded the latest via driver, and somthing called a filter driver, but it has been no good.

my pc has an althlon xp2600 2.09 processor.

my laptop has an celeron-m 1.6 420 processor

    please help. :(

    thankyou.

    John.

    Hello

I would try reinstalling your camera drivers and then trying again using the cd that came with the webcam. Your processor or chipset is not the issue. aLSO Check your camera settings to make sure they are all correct.

I belive the problem is that the webcam has been assigned an shared irq 20 or 21.

If i can change it to a free irq, i can fix the problem.

but i cannot change the irq because it is greyed out.

    regards.

    John.

    strange thing.

I can get the webcam to work perfectly, but i have to leave my kingston usb flash memory, plugged in an usb port.

If i remove it, within seconds the webcam starts acting up again??????????

    regards.

    John.
