I'm a good gamer, but I game a little bit now. I quit WoW because I felt it was wasting my time. Now, I just play wc3 dota sometimes, and a lot less, CS source... Anyway, I want to buy a pair of headphones or headsets for my computer. I have a crappy monitor w/ built in speakers. Needless to say, it's a crappy monitor with an even crappier speaker.

Any suggestions on a pair of headphones, or headsets (not sure if I need a mic later on or not, not now anyway), that are comfy and cover the ears with ok/good sound quality. Means I can hear well, but it doesn't have to be perfect. My speakers at high volumes create this annoying shriek with high pitch noises. It'd be nice if they could cancel some noise. I'm not sure, I'd like to take it to college next year, so if roomies are loud, just put these on to ignore them.

Also any cheap iphone earphones/headsets? My original ones that came with my iphone 3g died in just 2 months... I don't want to pay 30$+ just to have them break again. They had earphones w/ a mic and click thingy to change music/answer phone/ etc.

I have a pair of Phillips Surround Sound Earbuds that I love. I have a stock of them and have been using the product since last 2006. Once you get used to the feel, they are very comfortable. The best that I have heard, when I was shopping, was Bose or Seinheiser. Bose has been known for thin cables, but I took a look and it didn't seem to bad and the Seinheisers are also great.

I guess you are suggesting those for my iPhone? I want one's that have the functionality like the iphone earphones... anyway, i have had those earphones before. They were horrible for me. Did not stay in my ear and it hurt my ear too.

btw i don't want earphones for my computer, it's bad for your ears.

If you want a headset for your computer w/mic then go with the logitech. Within a comfortable range, >$100, there isn't much. The logitech entry level are the bet bang for your buck and do not fail as much as the others. Earbuds are only bad for your ears when you blast the music. If you keep the volume down, you are fine. The popular trend today is to turn the volume louder than needed to compensate for an already established loss of hearing and lack of clarity of lowered audio equipment.

Well, generally, ear phones need to be stuck in your ear canal, which is worse than having headphones, so i'd rather not use ear phones at home. Only outside where it's more convenient and more "stylish".

Anyway, really? Nothing much for less than 100$? The reason I want a headset is because I went to my cousin's house and he had some, I liked them. I think they were creative fatal1ty, he said he had bought them for 30$ or so.

Those are it, w/ and w/out usb connection i'm guessing. I'm considering it, but i'm looking for more opinions.

It depends if you want real quality, if you want something nice, then 100$ is just the start. I'm talking about headphones to use for the computer or another audio source(I wont suggest anything for the iphone because it has a retarded sized jack, and wont take any high quality connectors). So, When talking about quality, then brands like Sennheiser come up, and they are of good quality, Bose is usually over priced for what their product is worth. I personally have a pair of Ultrasone HFI-780's but they cost 180$ or more.. that is if you can find a store that has them in stock. So if your just looking for some medium level headset to get you by, then just get the creative ones, they wont be as good to listen to, but if you haven't experienced better then I doubt you'll care. Oh, and listen with headphones certainly doesn't hurt your hearing, not any more than a normal stereo, or even traffic. So just keep the volume at a reasonable level and enjoy.

I'm wondering, is it worth 30$ to get the USB ones instead of the normal connectors?

Also, where can I purchase it the cheapest.. Wondering where my cousin got it for around 30$.

The issues with a lot of the cheaper headsets seems to be a lack of quality and options. I spent weeks reading reviews of cheap headset after headset with jack, usb, or connection issues. I suggest going 3.5MMM, but I use them everywhere, as a backup, and have most of my usb ports full.

Yeah, I'd suggest a 3.5mm plug also, so you can use it on anything, more than just a computer. Limiting a accessory like headphones to computers is a waste IMO.

you can try the Steelsound 4h which is under $50 on some sites I believe. It got pretty good reviews and I'm pretty sure it'll be comfortable. I used to own the 3H and I'm going to advise that you stay away, the sound isn't bad but it's horribly uncomfortable.

There's also the Logitech Clearchat but that's USB.

Altec Lansing something 602? I forgot.. you can look up reviews of them and see which ones you like or don't like; that's what I did before I bought my headset which my dogs later ate

For something really cheap, I'd recommend Koss KSC75.

If you can afford more than 50$ (but less than 100$), I recommend Grado SR-60

However, neither of these block outside noises. If you want something to block outside noises, then I recommend you to go for inner-ear phones.

I can't say anything about that particular product, but all the sennheiser products that I've had(6 different models) were of good quality and I liked each and every one of them.

I think i'm going to go with the creative fatalities since I like how they look and I already tried them out. Anybody know where I can find it for the best deal? My cousin said he bought one for around 30$ and I can only find em for about 50$.

You ll be disappointed with Creative.

copy and paste 'hq1400' in google ..its a creative headphone ...the 2nd result will be my thread on nbr.

i even tested their flagship models like Aurvana Live and Aurvana DJ. ..they sound colored and very low in detail.

i suggest u buy a real headphone for gaming and not some hyped toy.

Some good brands for real headphones are:
    Sennheiser, Audio technica...

HD555 from sennheiser and AD700 from AT... these two are highest rated headphones for Gaming and music they rock anyway,
