I'm looking for some good headphones to buy to use for gaming, listening to music, and watching TV/movies with on my computer. I want some with good sound quality that won't be extremely loud for others next to me. I suppose most headphones would be ok for that anyways. I definitely do not need anything with too much bass. I want something that looks decent too and is comfortable to wear. Definitely nothing over $100...so that rules out the best sound quality. But I was thinking of something like these http://reviews.pricegrabber.com/headphones/m/26198360/ but I don't need noise canceling. Does anyone know the perfect headphones for me?

Do you want a headset for gaming? Or just plain straight up headphones.

Audio Technia AD700's if you like good soundstage and dont mind abit less bass, these really have the best soundstage of anything I ever heard, makes you feel like your there.

More bass compared to open air.

Both are just slighly past the 100$ make but well worth every penny since they used to go for much closer to the 200$ mark.

What kind of music do you listen to?

You'll probably want a closed design, since with open air more sound will escape.

Sennheiser HD485 would be good for electronic and bass heavy music. The Grado SR60 are very good for jazz and classical and such, being very quick and warm. The Beyerdynamic DT 231 and AKG K 81 DJ are a better middle ground, for those with diverse libraries, and a taste for folk and blues.

Nothing in the price range is great, but you can do pretty well. Much better than those Creatives. The Beyerdynamic DT 770 are excellent headphones, on the other hand, and someone mentioned in a recent thread that they can be had for $199 at Guitar Center. The DT 440 and DT 660 are also both good steps up, and can be had in the realm of $130 and $160 respectively.

if u got the money u should pick up a pair of shure SE530PTH. absolutely the best headphones i have ever owned. the shure e4 are good but lack in the lows. the 530's will run u 500usd but are well worth it imo.

lol the guy says he has a 100$ budget so I recomend somthing 120$ wich is streching it abit but managable, esp when the product is worth 200$ normally its a good deal.

But whats up with 200-500$ recomendations??? Dont you think thats way off from what he is asking for?

IEM really don't come into their own until the $175-$200 area. Until then you have very major weaknesses, like boomy bass, or shrill highs. And honestly, the more I look into another IEM purchase, the more it looks like the SE530 are in a precarious position. That is, a couple models in the $200 range are much more balanced, and for only a couple hundred more you can get custom built models with insanely good drivers, which fit perfectly, and are tailored sonically to your ears.

By the way, ViciousXUSMC, if you were referring to my > $100 suggestions, I made 4 in his price range and then three in ascending steps if he can stretch it.

Beauty is in the ear of the listener ;) As well as the Shure E4Gs and Westone UM2s, I own the Sennheiser CX300s. imho the best budget canals you can buy before going into proper IEMs. Surprisingly good for the money. Yes the bass is boomy compared to the other two, but on their own, they have a fun sound and quite enjoyable to listen to

As for the OP, I suggest full sized headphones given the criteria. NothingFlashy, I would suggest you go to the high street and demo cans yourself. Full sized cans are infinitely easier to demo than IEMs. Phone up a store before hand and ask if they have demo facilities. If not, bring a portable player with you and select tunes you know well

Wow...thanks for all the help. I think I do want full sized headphones, but I'm not sure which ones yet. I like how there are so many suggestions though. Thanks. Some of the cheaper Beyerdynamic headphones look like they are great...albeit a little above my price range (at about $160). It probably is worth it though...I'll see. Thanks again.

If you're going to spend $160 you might as well get the Audio Technica A700.

Yes yes, but find out what your local hi-fi stores have! imho if you have the opportunity to demo, do it. Especially when you spend 3 figures. You can read as much as poss, but your ears are your own

I bought IEMs blindly as I wanted them, but not poss to demo in UK. I got lucky

Could you guys give me suggestions if I told you more of what I want. I want something for music, movies, and gaming. Again, I would like not to spend much, if any, over $100. I do not want a headset. Something comfortable for hours. I prefer the circumaural design(around the ear) and something that doesn't look like crap but not that important. Lastly, I want a lot of sound to be blocked out(in and out), so closed headphones.(But not noise canceling). Thanks...there's just so many options...and so much information...

I use Sennheiser PX200's. They ain't pretty but they are well built and offer very good sound quality for their size/price.
