Looking for a headset/headphones for my laptop. I want something good but not stupid expensive. I'm thinking around $60-$80CAD.
I'd prefer something non-USB, but if anyone can recommend something good I'd appreciate it.

The corsair vengeance 1300 comes to mind: Corsair Vengeance 1300 Gaming Headset 50MM Driver Circumaural Earcup Analog - Corsair - CA-9011111-WW. I have the 1500 and it is pretty sturdy, the 1300 should be built as solidly. I also find the 1500 to be quite comfortable.

How does that compare to Astro A40?
-
The A40 is about three times the OP's budget and the vengeance 1300 is right within budget. Haven't tried the A40, so i couldn't really compare them, but if i were to drop that much on a headset, i'd rather buy a pair of good headphones like the Shure 840/HD280 and a stand alone mic that isn't too expensive.

Head-Fi.org - Headphone forums and reviews for audiophiles for all your headphone needs.

I've got to second the Head-Fi.org recomendation. I've been a member there for years. Will give you a warning though, I started out with a $100 set of headphones, and have recently upgraded to a $450 pair of earphones. Worth EVERY PENNY but you might get hooked

What about the ARCTIC P301? It's only $25 and is not bad at all. I'm using it right now for music and skype.
