About a month ago I was on the dell site and saw a microsoft finger print reader. Its a small device that you plug into your usb port. You can use it for anything that has to do with typing in a password. Once you configer it and save all your settings you just press your finger on the device and it signs you in. It coudl be used for email, gamming account, or a windows login account, and any other things that require login info.

Has anyone seen or used or own one? I know they have just USB ones, and then microsoft also has keybaords that have them built in. I'm considering buying one, but want to know what people think about how it works? Thanks! :)

I have the fingerprint reader built into my ThinkPad. I really only use it log into my machine. I heard it works best with Internet Explorer, but I use FireFox. Personally, I could live without it, but thats me.

I used to know a guy who had one -- it worked instantaneously and was seriously cool. I sometimes toy with getting one myself.

I'd say its a gimmick but it would be cool. Kinda ;)

Kinda one of those high tech things that would be a plus factor but perhaps barely used. Or for the nervous security wrecked people :p

Sometimes after getting out of the shower or holding a can of cold soda, it won't work. You can always log in manually though.

Yeah, my boss has a Thinkpad with that built-in. Apparently, either his DNA changed his fingerprint now that he's about 50 years old or the thing doesn't work because he always has to log in manually.

Is the Microsoft Finger Print reader worth the $20 in your opionion (Anyone out there?) I personally have about 20 different accounts for just abount anything and everything. Email accounts, gamming accounts, ebay, paypal, bank, forum sites, and more...
