    Hey all.

My question is, can you have a surround effect headset like a 7.1, on a stereo headset?

The razer megalodon is 7.1 virtual surround sound. and the razer carcharius is the same headset but it does not have that fancy "7.1" box. Does the carcharius also get the surround effect. in both headsets there are just 2 speakers. will you also hear the enemies while playing a shooter game behind you with the normal stereo headset?

I would highly recommend avoiding virtual surround sound. The "2.0" and "7.1" modes of the Megaladon should've read "normal" and "tinny". You can get a better headset, lets say a Sennheiser PC360, and pair it with a MixAmp to get better virtual surround sound, but it can't really compete with proper surround sound. I haven't read any review about it, but I know the Roccat Kave offers real 5.1 surround.

I would highly recommend going with stereo for headphones.

Same with me virtual surround has caused me a lot of grief in compatibility with programs & games.

Stereo never has let me down and offers a good 3d sound engine in game for almost any game these days.

    Thanks alot,

So can anyone point me a good headset out which has the "surround sound" up to lets say 140$, aslong as it covers the full ear and is not like made of leather i think that gets sweaty after a long game session

I would have grabbed a stereo headset like the others, but since you seem determined to get a surround headset I'll have to suggest the Psyko lineup. They offer the Psyko Krypton for $149.99 and the Psyko Carbon for $199.99. Please bear in mind that those headsets won't do you much good outside of gaming sessions. Listening to music will be far from enjoyable.

I highly suggest getting a sound card that supports dolby headphone. Personally I use an Asus Xonar DG sound card paired with a Steelseries Siberia v2 headset. The sound card has dolby headphone and also has an amp. Everything I play sounds amazing and the entire package cost me well under $100.

I would avoid the megalodon as I heard the sound quality of these headset is not as the other virtual 7.1 headsets!

frankly, I never was convinced about surround headsets! if you want true sound quality then go for the Fischer audio FA-003 with Fiio E7/E9 (dac & amp) a bit costy but you get what you pay for!

Wow never thought you could get better surround gaming headsets than a Logitec G35...
