I was looking to buy a game pad for my laptop so I can play my emulators and platforming games easier.

Can anyone suggest a some links for a decent game pad for me?

Anything 20 dollars or less is preferred

find a wired 360 controller on sale. You can get them around $20 on sale. Lots of newer games have native support for the 360 controller.

You might have to pay more than $20 for my suggestions but they are quality and I have been using them for years now.

For PS1/2, Snes, GBA/GB/GBC, Nes etc I use a logitech wireless Action Controller and for everything else I use a wireless Xbox 360 controller apart from for fighting games. For those I use a Xbox 360 - Hori Pad EX Turbo 2 (Black) because it has a much better Dpad.

I'll 2nd or 3rd the 360 controller. Windows support is obviously very very good for it and frankly it's a great controller.

The wired one is standard USB. The wireless will require a seperate dongle that frankly just doesn't seem worth it on a small screen laptop.

I'll change things up and say the Logitech RumblePad 2 or the Cordless RumblePad 2. Although the 360 wired controller is a good/solid controller I tend to like the Logitech's rumble feature better. It mimics the Playstation controller's rumble to a T.

If rumble doesn't mean anything to you or you have large hands go with the 360 controller.

Its time to make a guide on this :D

So many gamepad threads this week.

Best plug & play and quality all in one is a 360 controller. The only bad thing about it is its D-Pad sucks for fighting games, but should be ok for most of your emulation needs, and its kind of bulky with a excessively long cord for laptop use.

Dont forget about adapters, you can get a usb adapter and use say your favorite SNES or NES/Genesis controller as well.

    I 2nd or 3rd the 360 controller

Get a regular wired 360 controller, since the wired PC version is more expensive but only has a CD with drivers, which you can download yourself and save the cash.

It supports all Games For Windows titles, and newer games natively, and I have seen it work with some older ones too

If it doesn't use an app like XPadder to bind controls/keys to the controller
I have the older FREE version of Xpadder and Xpadder manuals that are now un-availible, PM me if you need them

PS - As Vicious said, the D-pad is "mushy" IMO and not good at all, but since I don't play many fighting games, overall the 360 controller is great

I was not joking about seeing so many "best gamepad" threads that I feel we need a guide.

So spent 10 hours of my life and got one started.

Please try to forward anybody with a gamepad question to this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/accessories/497568-ultimate-gamepad-review-guide.html

I will continue to expand it and improve it as long as I see there is interest and a need.

Right now I got all the main gamepads, but I may try to add in some of the lesser used ones.
