Hi everyone, I guess an integrated fingerprint scanner would be considered an accessory :p

Anyway, how reliable are they? What if I got a small cut on that finger, would the scanner reject the result? The laptop that I've eyed has one, and I'm wondering if it would be safer to use a fingerprint scanner than a password. I'm really good at remembering passwords, by the way, so the fact that you don't have to remember a password isn't a matter for me.

I've experienced fingerprint scanners on notebooks, and they're, for the most part, good. However, variables such as a medium sized cut on your finger would probably throw the reader off.

I personally see no reason for a fingerprint scanner, unless you always need to secure your data and access it quickly/constanly, its more pratical to just use a password IMO.

I think that the whole fingerprint scanner is just so you can go up to your buddies and show them how neat it is, I personally don't think I'd ever use it.

I have experience with finger print readers when I was in the navy. A regular sized cut (paper cut or even a decent sized scab)would NOT affect the reader. I'm too lazy to explain why at the moment, but in the meantime heres a decent link ....... (click the pros and cons box too)
