Power adapters are big and ugly and a pain to carry around. The small-form-factor Dart seems like a step in the right direction. Don't get me wrong, I'm not spending $79 for the privilege of waiting seven months for a first-run adapter that may or may not have issues when it arrives, and I'd think these guys would be better off approaching device manufacturers directly rather than selling an expensive third-party adapter, but I'll be watching this when it's actually out on the market.

Too bad they're not making one that supports output higher than 65W. I'd like one for my MacBook Pro, but it's not as if Apple's adapter is a pain to carry.

Seriously, 65W is a third of what I need

It's obviously not aimed at the Clevo 180w segment.

Sure, but 90-120W would be enough to run throttled, while I don't think 65W is enough to even do that.

Because it's not made for power hogs.

Extending this tech to higher-power adapters is almost certain if the Dart takes off, but if you're already toting around a huge laptop around, you've shown that you're not all that concerned with your system's carry weight. An equivalent 180w adapter would be at least as big (sans cordage) as my Yoga 2 Pro's 65W adapter, which would represent a huge size and weight advantage over the traditional bricks, but while they're starting up it's wise to focus on a single product, and it seems to make sense to target the fashion- and weight-conscious (and more populous) ultrabook crowd before the gaming notebook crowd.

It's also possible that the tech doesn't scale well and they just can't do a 180w adapter without overcoming some difficult and expensive engineering hurdles until they have the capital available to a proven company.

97% of laptops use 65w or smaller power adapters. If you are part of the "I carry my 18 inch 25 pound laptop with me everywhere I go" crowd, this isn't meant for you.

I hope they take off... I love the idea. The design is also ok, but directly pluging the adapter to a socket wouldn't work for me.

If there is demand, they will bring out higher wattage adapters, though i suspect they will be bigger, also some notebooks will not work correctly with a third-party ac-adapter, you can get warning messages to reduced performance.
