...am looking for the exact same thing, except I run the rig w/ 7800Go. Anyone, a suggestion? I have foun Bytecc to be the best so far, basing my opinion on reviews and design and fan-placement. Either this one or COOLER MASTER's, though the latter's fans are situated too migh up to cool the HOT SPOT.

I also read great things about the Spire Pacific Breeze, which seems to lower temps by 5-10 degrees and is also only $15.

What we need is the PERFECT cooler suitable for our model/make of laptop: Dell Inspiron e1705. Does Spire Pacific Breeze do the job?

Seems like people on notebookforums.com swear by it. Says it helps out the temps on the e1705 quite a bit.

Do you have exact temp. numbers to back up this opinion?

Go to notebookforums.com and do a search. You will find answers there. From what I personally have read, it seems like people get lowered temps between 5 and 10 degrees. :)

While this seems like the best cooler for larger notebooks, it may not be the "perfect fit" for the E1705. Some of the Newegg reviews mentioned that the exhaust ports point toward the center, while the fan intakes on the E1705 are on the back sides. However it would cool the memory down seeing as thats in the middle of the case.

I ended up building a little hutch to use my laptop on while seated on my lazyboy. I initially wanted to cut a 120mm hole in the middle and use a fan to pull air in from underneath, however powering it became a problem. So now I'm using rubber chair leg stops to prop it up to let air in underneath it. I'm thinking about adding one of these, Clip on Fan, to blow lots of air underneath.

I just ordered it last night so when i get it i'll tell you guys how it works! Also on my E1705 the gpu fan never turns on, it just keeps getting hotter and hotter till computer crashes. When i first got the computer the fan came on very rarly but it did come on, but now i am overclocking my gpu and it gets 3 times as hot as my cpu but no fan action! Anyway the question is there a way to manually turn on the gpu fan or anything or do i have to open her up and mess with jumper cables?

What are your temperatures before and after overclocking?

Use I8kfanGUI. Google it. The new Beta 4 is awesome. I keep my fans on low at all times and my GPU idles around 47-50 degrees. You can monitor your temps with this programs also, but you will need to offset the temps by about 8 degrees in the options tab for it to read correctly. You can also check temps with certain drivers, as well as programs like Mobile Meter, Everest, and Notebook Hardware Control.

Which way do you offset the temps by 8 degrees? Does it read too hot or not hot enough?

I read something about the I8kfanGUI being incompatible in its current form w/ e1705's DualCore CPU...so being that I qualify as th eowner of such NB I would not think of using the prog. just yet!

It's in beta 4 right now and is definitely compatible. It has been updated to work with Core Duos. You might want to think about it now... ;)

The program initially reads GPU temps as 8 degrees cooler than what they actually are. No big deal...just offset it in options tab. Super easy to do. :)

well I tried the program out last night, and I do like the fact that I can turn the fans on high, but it seems like they won't stop going on high until I shut down. I did activate the hardware sensor which gives you more control of the fan speeds, but I think this could also be causing the fans on high lockup. I'm going to re-install tonight and see. But if I can't get simple control, ie when I click to turn down the fans and it does, then it's not worth using.

    PS I'm running a core duo E1705.

I don't really care for the hardware sensor personally. I know for me when I click "Fast" and apply, the fans go to high until I change their speed and click apply. Works perfectly for me.

Just ordered "Lapinator Plus!" from eBay for a $33 total. I deduced that to have the optimal cooling pad solution, the product has to be built CUSTOM for your NB size, fan direction, etc.--and since all are built to accommodate MOST models of MOST brands--they cannot possibly be suitable for your unique NB complete form. So buying an expensive NB with three fans is a waste since it can NEVER cool as much as a cutom-made can. Sadly all coolers are a rip-off, unless you buy them to just stand, angle your NB. Also, if the NB's own cooling system was poorly designed to begin with, no outside solution will ever alleviate its troubles unless you do some serious digging yourself (like installing water cooling). In the end I decided to just go with a solution that does not promise cooling, instead promises to make my life easier using the NB in bed....I chose a lapdesk "Lapinator Plus!" :)

Did you click in the option that says * force fan speed on high* ? if so uncheck it. then on left side you can click in then manually set it off/low/high on each fan then click on apply. I have no problem adjusting the 2 fans on my e1705 any setting, any time.
