Hi all,
I just recently received my dell 1520 and I wanted to attach the speakers I had on my old dell desktop. After connecting, the sub worked, but only 1 of the two speakers worked. Is there something special I have to do to hook up desktop speakers to a laptop or is it even possible? Thanks in advance.

I have never done anything like that, but I think I know how to. What OS are you useing? If it is XP then go to
control pannel>sounds and audio devices, under "speaker settings" click "advanced" then just select whatever setup you are trying to use
Hope it helps. -
I'm using vista home premium. Sorry, for not putting that in the original post.

There shouldn't be any problem at all; it sounds like a broken speaker or broken cable. You have the speakers plugged in to the wall outlet, right? Also check the connections between the speakers.
Also, test if the speakers work with something else, like your desktop computer if you still have it, or an iPod or portable CD player.
Also test if earphones work correctly with your laptop. And if you're running XP, check the balance settings in the volume control. (They seem to have gotten rid of the balance controls in Vista.) Also if your speakers have balance controls, check that.
