Although MaximumPC gave it a 10, I don't see using something that looks more like a transformer than a mouse.

Yeah, that thing just looks uncomfortable no matter how you adjust it.

Sorry for waking this thread up from the grave- however, I am about to purchase this mouse and I was wondering if anyone that has purchased or used this mouse might have some constructive criticism about it?
Thanks. -
I haven't used it personally, but a lot of people around here say it has a really bad sensor. Shapeshifting is nice, but if it sucks as a mouse, then it's probably not worth it.
I'll let them speak for themselves though -
I own this mouse and I must say that it fits my hand really well. Although it is adjustable, I wouldn't recommend this for a person who has really big hands as they might find it rather uncomfortable. For a basis, I'm 5'6" and the mouse fits my hand perfectly. It's not a very big mouse. I'd say it's about average sized although it weighs more than those of the same size. So if you like a heavy and slightly compact mouse, I'd say go for it.

Specifically, some people complain that the mouse's sensor moves the cursor a few pixels when the mouse is picked up from the mousing surface (well-documented, even within this sub-forum). The mouse has many happy users too of course. If you are interested in other suggestions, just tell us what you're looking for.

^Agreed. I think some sensors have it worse than others, is what they're getting at.
In any case, my Mamba does the same thing, moving maybe two or three pixels on the occasions where I lift up my mouse (which you really shouldn't be doing anyway). Certainly not enough to affect anything. -
I used the rat7 for aprox 8 months and had just one problem with it. Because of the twin eye philips laser you need to be careful on what surface u game with it. It tends to skip and jump on rough surfaces and it is advisable to play on a non textile pad. Also dust tends to cumulate in the laser hole.
Other than that I've been more than happy with it and the level of customization it brings. It is indeed heavy, even without the extra weights added but as I dont lift the mouse often I didnt see it as a drawback.
Another plus to the mouse would be the "sniper button" which cuts the current dpi in half when pressed and returns to current dpi when released. Highly usable in sniper scenarios -
The Good
- Very comfortable. By far, the most comfortable mouse I have ever used, because of its adjustable shape.
- Nice "clicky" mouse buttons
- Nifty "sniper" button, which adjusts DPI as long as you depress that button.
The Bad
- Poor quality imaging sensor (Philips Twin-Eye) - more on this later
- Terrible mouse software
- Very small teflon mouse feet. Mousing motion is not very smooth.
What bothered me the most about mice that use the Philips Twin-Eye sensor is how picky they are to perfect mousing surfaces. You pretty much MUST use a mouse pad. You cant use a bare desk surface, you cant use shiny surfaces, you MUST use a mouse pad.
Again, this is a non-issue for most people who buy this mouse, but it is just indicative of poor quality. -
^100 to 200 pixels? Jesus, that's like 20% of my screen.

buddy had a cyborg rat but was disappointed due the size, customization feature was nice though.
