Hi, I have read many threads where people claim that the Cryo LX can handle 12v to boost up the RPM of the 120mm fans. So I bought a cheap Trisonic 12v universal adapter, but the result wasn't very good. First of all, I see small sparks coming out of the AC plug everytimes I insert it into the Cryo's port. The first couple tries were fine, and I can feel the increased CFM. But after that, the RPM of the fans decreased significantly and the speed adjuster doesn't work anymore. This makes me wonder if I had fried the board due to high voltage (even higher than 12v). The thing is that this is a cheap AC adapter, and it probably isn't "regulated". That means it can output 15v or higher even though being set at 12v (possible explanation of the sparks). Therefore, I would like to ask what 12v Universal AC adapter do you guys use without problems?

Additional research brought me to the following two adapters:

Power Line 0900-77A 1300-mA AC Adapter ($13.67 shipped)
Amazon.com: Power Line 0900-77A 1300-mA AC Adapter with USB Charging Port: Electronics: Reviews, Prices & more

Velleman Compact Universal AC Adapter Power Supply ($25 shipped)
Amazon.com: Velleman Compact Universal AC Adapter Power Supply: Electronics: Reviews, Prices & more

Both adapters above have voltages regulated. The Powerline is from a company in the U.S.A, but the product itself was made in China. I suspect that the Velleman is hand-assembled in the U.S., which makes me still consider it for the quality although it's more expensive.

Also, does anybody know what's the polarity of the Cryo LX so that we can set these universal tips appropriately?

Please give me some comments and suggestions, even a pointless one!!! :)

    Thanks

C'mon guys, say something. Even if you don't have this cooler or used any of the above adapters, cast your vote :)

u could try to search the past cryo modding threads and see if u can find what kind of adapter they use.

u also know that if u go with a higher voltage adapter u will lose the ability to use the USB ports.

Thanks for your response. I have searched for every single thread I could find about the Cryo LX two weeks before I bought it :). But only one thread out of hundreds that I found someone's link to the Velleman one :), but he didn't mention how it worked for him afterward. In fact, I even got familiar with your nick in every single Cryo LX threads, LOL.....
