Ok, So I purchased an X-Fi soundcard for my laptop last week and I just got the surround sound dongle that attaches to it. It looks great and I can't wait to try it out when I get home from work! I am concerned about something though. Affixed to the Sound Blaster instruction pamphlet is a sticker that says:
WARNING: Handling the cord(s) on this product may expose you to lead, a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Wash hands after handling.
Wow. So... is this normal? Did my dongle take a lead bath before they shipped it to me? Or is the lead inside the cord with the actual wiring? I can't say I've seen a warning like that with a computer accessory...

Interesting, I have a Creative Mouse (I got it for $.01) and it has the same warning on the wire. I am curious about this as well as I don't have that warning on my G5.... -
The warning is probably more there just to cover the companies butt just in case someone gets sue happy.
As long as you don't plan on eating your dongle any time soon (Yea, your right, it did sound dirty) you should be fine. -
I think Creative sucks.. they make incompetent products at stupid price.
Their headphones snap easily, their flagship Aurvana are a big joke... with a terrible Bass response for Such expensive CLOSED -type headphones
I had a very bad customer service experience.
Read THIS article posted by me.
Basically its a Singaporean company & here in singapore they do heavy marketing to compete with Sennheiser.
But Sennheiser & Sony can PWN! them anyday.
the only thing creative makes good is is a FOOL out of customer ( ya..their Soundcards are not bad) -
Personally I wouldn't be too concerned about that "warning".. probably just a CYA type of thing. What doesn't contain lead..
Creative Labs: lead exposure?
