I am about to order a gaming laptop, I know they all run pretty hot. I searched for a "best cooler" thread but they were all pretty old. What coolers are you guys using? I like the Cryo NZXT but I'm about to spend alot of money and I might have to start with a cheaper one. I saw a Zalman ZM-NC1000 on amazon for $40 anyone have a good cheap cooler they reccommend or should I just cough up the money for the highest end one.

the most cost effective coolers are the ones that you build specifically to fit your notebook...
for example my cooler which cost about 5 dollars with salvaged and free parts cools my laptop, imo much better than anyone i could buy.

all you need is a mesh chassis to fit your laptop, a decent power supply, some fans, wires and electrical tape

im running 19 volts from a old laptop power adapter into an 80 and 140 mm fan in series on a file sorter, works great

What kind of powersupply are we talking? I may have a really old laptop I could salvage might have thrown it out. Wont regular desktop fans be really loud?
