I just bought my new notebook, which is in my sig and part of the HP dv6z series, and even though it is not overheating I figured that investing in a cooler now will prolong the life of the laptop. The bottom of the notebook looks like this, except with a 12-cell battery sticking out the bottom and lifting it up about .5''.

I am not certain about which vent sucks in air and which vent blows it out but the area around one farthest to the right in the picture feels the hottest. If anyone has a dv6z and knows how exactly the fan works then that would be very helpful. The two coolers I am considering right now are the Zalman ZM-NC1000 and the Enermax Aeolus CP001.

Okay. I have definitely figured out that the fan sucks air in from the back vent, the picture in the first post, and blows it out the far right vent.

Does anyone know if the Aeolus would still work with it? Judging by the size of the fan in the Aeolus and the position of the vent on the notebook, I think the Aeolus would just blow air into the other vents and not blow the hot air back into the notebook.

The second option I am considering is the Thermaltake T500. I could position the notebook on it so the fans, which suck instead of blow, would be sucking the hot air right out from the exhaust vent. Anyone have any suggestions?

Alright. I ended up going with the Thermaltake T500. I will post results later today. If it doesn't work well than I am gonna get the Aeolus CP001 on Monday so I'll post the results of that, if I have to.

Edit: The Thermaltake was awful for the laptop. It cooled it down by a max of 4 degrees Celsius. I think it would work better if it was a little bigger and the vents matched up with the ones on the notebook better. I'm ordering the Aeolus today. I'll let you know how it goes.

I was about to post something like this. I will go with the normal backpack carry versus the messenger bag. Let me know how things go Aba.
