Hello there everyone! I have been lurking around this forum for a while now, but I thought I would post to see if I could get some ideas!

I will be going to college this fall, and have already ordered my laptop. It is a Dell XPS 1530 (should be here in a few days! :D )

I have been reading the discussions about "Laptop vs Messenger Bags" and many other threads like that, and after hunting around the internet for a while, I still cannot find anything that really fits what I am looking for. Here are the things I am looking for in my backpack.

-Should house a 15.4 inch Laptop.

-Should protect aforementioned laptop very well.

-Needs to have a decent amount of space for textbooks, binders, ect.

-Preferably has a chest strap (I will be riding my bike around campus).

    -Isn't completely horrendous looking.

-Priced between $0 and $200. (I like the look of the Booq packs, but they are way to expensive.)

So if anyone has any ideas or owns any backpacks like that, I would be very happy to hear about them!

    Thanks!

Consider the SwissGear Synergy backpack. Its very well built and quite durable.

I've developed a liking for the messenger bags in my old age. But it is a personal decision.

Take a look at my thread:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=247663

I also need a backpack for college.

EDIT: The Wenger Swissgear Synergy Backpack really looks good. Which price should it have?

EDIT2: I bought a " Targus Campus XL Backpack - Up to 17" " with my M1530 and inmediately I thougth "I made a mistake! It's ugly and too big, it isn't a "college backpack"", but now I have been trying it and yes, it's too big but well, if it wasn't so big it would be great, nice protection, lots of bag and... black, discrete design.

EDIT3: What about this one? http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3363350/Trust-BG-4500P-15-4-Notebook-Backpack/Product.html#

It's very cheap. Anyone tried it?

I think I am going to go with the Swiss Gear backpack. It has a lot of space and everything I have heard about it says it works well with books and a laptop. Not as stylish as I had hoped, but it sure does get the job done!
