What do you guys use to clean your laptop keyboard from all of the hand oils that make it shiny?
-
i usually turn off the comp first, so that the keyboard doesn't input anything while i'm scrubbin the buttons. i usually use the screen clothe that came with my xps for general all around cleaning. a water and alcohol solution should be fine for a more thorough cleaning.
it's also nice to have a can of compressed air around. u never know what's under those cracks and crevices that are on the keyboard. -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
I use water and a microfiber cloth.

A mixture of water and a tiny bit of dish soap, not very wet. Then I dry with a microfiber cloth.
But you should check out CalebSchmerge's guide here. I have also used those cleaning pads he recommends.

I use a roughly 50/50 water + 90% alcohol mix to clean my Thinkpad's palmrest plastics, touchpad, and keyboard. I just use several tissues folded together, but you have to be careful not to leave fibers everywhere.

Of course turn the machine off. Unplug any cables.
Place on side so any solution does NOt go down under keyboard.
Typically use a solution of one drop dish detergent to half cup of warm water. Dip a corner of microfiber cloth or soft cotton cloth, do not saturate, and wipe screen and keyboard. Then wipe with dry corner to finish up.
Blow air along keyboard cavities and other vents which at it and remove all dust and foreign objects. Touch up any solution droplets. Let set for hour to dry. Then use
Hope that helps

For the keyboard and the outside and inside areas of the notebook (NOT the screen) I use Windex and a soft, lint-free terry cloth. For the screen, I use special glass cleaner that I get at LensCrafters along with some lint-free, non-fiber cleaning cloths.

70% isopropyl alcohol and a microfiber cloth.
