I'd like a cheap mouse for my laptop, preferably wireless but doesn't have to be if there are other much better options. I currently own a Logitech G5 which I love the feel of but I don't want to spend another $50 for a mouse that will most definitely get a heavy beating of at college. I also won't be playing many games with the mouse (just the occasional starcraft or cs1.6, casually) so I won't need such a high dpi like the G5. What are some of my options?

Also, what is recommended for a laptop - optical or laser? I don't want a trackball.

I have a Logitech V220 and like it. You can buy it from online sellers such as newegg.com or Best Buy, Staples, etc.

You might also want to take a look at the V320 or V450.

I see the Logitech MX620 for pretty cheap right now, but how is Buy.com with rebates? I've never purchased from them before - do they honor rebates well or is there some fine print/hassle when trying to get a rebate with them?
Is the MX620 a good mouse?

I'm looking for <$30 with shipping included.

That's a really good price for the MX620. Note that the rebate is handled by Logitech, not Buy.com. Logitech is pretty good with its rebates, it may take a while though.

Good call. I totally forgot about the vx nano. However, if he wants to pick one up locally, they usually run about $70 in bigbox stores.

It will. It would be great if you could tell us how the MX620 is, I'm considering it as a replacement for my VX.

if you are looking for a good laptop mouse look no further then mogo.

    http://www.newtonperipherals.com/index1.html

They make express card slot mice which work very well and are the most portable solution for your laptop. if you want a non express card slot mouse then get the microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000. it works very well and is pretty small, but not too small.

They're not cheap though. Not exactly what the OP is looking for. However, the Mogos look very interesting. Are they comfortable for use? They look a little flat for extended use.
