    G'day guys,

I need a new bag for my HP Envy 15. First I used a standard laptop bag, didn't like this one, so changed to a backpack.

My work often requires that I travel with bag with a single change of clothes and the bare essentials in case I get stuck overnight somewhere. None of the bags I've looked at seem big enough for me to take my laptop, travel gear plus a single change of clothes with shoes.

So lately I've started looking at smallish "carry on" bags. Primarily the Diesel Alpha Carry on. Do you guys reckon this will fit the bill? Unfortunately it doesn't have a padded laptop sleeve in it, and it lacks pockets.

My thoughts were I could get a padded sleeve for the laptop, and that should be enough protection? Papers will have to to into a folder or something to prevent them getting ruined.

Will I be able to get this onto a domestic flight as carry on? Anyone else using a similar bag along the same lines? Care to share thoughts?

    Cheers!

I have used this bag for trips lasting up to 3 days/2 Nights, it is very good quality. I've used it for the last 5 years. I only use it for trips now, but for a couple of years I used it as my only laptop bag. I've carried a 17" Laptop that I used as a portable server and my 12" Tablet as well as 2 Shirts, Pants, etc. enough to pull off the trip.

Thats what I would do. Gives you far more options for bags. :) The 2 recommended above are nice options, but if you are looking for something more casual (like the bag you mentioned), messenger bags in general might be something to look into. What's your budget? You are buying from Australia right?

This might be like what you want: CIAO! Wheeled Under the Seat Bag - eBags.com

It's made to fit under an airline seat, and should be plenty big for an Envy 15, clothes and various other doodads.

The other option (which I use) is a sleeve for my Envy (you can configure specifically for an Envy 15 at that site) in a backpack that meets the rest of your requirements. The nice thing about those sleeves is that they're nicely padded, so you don't have to worry about bangs and bumps too much.

Some good suggestions guys, although I am not keen on a wheeled bag. After something more casual. And I'll be grabbing a padded laptop case to protect the laptop when in the bag, good suggestion there thanks Pita!

I am located in Australia. Rushfaster.com.au is a great sight to buy from.

Oh and I should probably clarify, I'm not after a custom laptop bag, looking primarily into carry on style bags.
