I dont know a lot about headphones/earbuds but i need to buy a pair for under $30 to take to college with me.

I am considering Sennheiser, Sony, and Creative.

I need recommendations about specific models.

    Koss KSC75

They may look cheap, but they're exceptionally reviewed at both Amazon and Head-Fi. I own a pair of not-cheap Shure E2c's also and when I need non-sound isolating headphones I use the KSC75, they're excellent.

Sony makes some decent earbuds under $30. Look at the EX51/71/81 models.

The Sony models are boomy and overly-hot, the Koss phones are far superior and cheaper too.

I prefer my cheap and boomy Sony earbuds over my pair of Shure E2Cs. I like bass and the Sony earbuds are waaayyy more comfortable than the E2C's. For me, putting in my E2Cs is like shoving rocks into my ear canals. Then the bass is horrible unless you get a perfect seal and even then the bass is poor.

I suppose the sound reproduction is better/cleaner but comfort and bass > shoving rocks in my ears and no bass.

Can't argue with personal preference, but again, the KSC75's are higher quality sound and the bass is still a-plenty but they're not boomy.

I have the Creative EP-630s, they sound great for $25! I love them...I must say I'm dying for them to break so I can justify getting a pair of Shures though :p. These earbuds have opened my eyes (ears, really) to high-quality earbuds.

I have a pair of Creative EP630 earbuds, sound quality is quite decent for the price.
