Under 20 dollars is ideal. I'm really on a tight budget and can't afford amazing headphones.

I'll be going off to college so I'll need these headphones while in my dorm to not irritate my roommate. I will be listening to Music, and I'm a casual gamer but don't need "gaming headphones". They just need to be durable and have decent audio.

    Thank you for the suggestions.

It doesn't necessarily need to have a mic. The mic might even be annoying unless it's retractable or something.

And if you don't mind how they look so much, and want good sound..... Great sound actually. There is a reason these have never changed since they where first made. They can equal the sound of some $100 hedphones. Lifetime no questions asked warranty, I own a pair and I love them.

The Koss PortaPro actually looks pretty good, but I've just realized that I'll be using Skype a lot in my dorm (parents/friends....parents :p) so I'd probably benefit from a mic over the built in one with the laptop's built in webcam and save my roommate from hearing half of the conversation.

I was looking at these, opinions or more suggestions welcome.

I'm leaning toward the TekNmotion one but still not sure.

Ooh I loved the TekNmotions! They lasted me like 1-2 years, even till the end they were holding on (only one ear cup worked, and I had to replace them when the mic cut out!). If you treat them nicer than I did (I threw them a lot xD), then they will last quite a while.

I would recommend them to anyone who needs them in that range! Very good headset for the price!

Very nice headset if you need one for that cheap. They aren't G930s or like the best Sennheisers available, but they do the job very well.

Don't expect to much from those and you will be fine. I personally would probably take the rosewill ones seem more comfy. None of those will have great sound quality when it comes to music looking at their specs, but if that is not a huge factor they should be ok. Can't say for certain as I have never used any of those.

If the Koss ones had a mic I'd take them.

I'm actually still deciding between the Rosewill and the TekNmotion.

Along with the headphones I will also be buying a mouse, and I was thinking on splurging a bit more on the mouse (G400/ Deathadder/ MX518), but I'm wondering if it would be better to splurge on the headset and get a cheaper mouse?

I use a pretty standard laser mouse right now, and It suits me fine.

    Decisions, decisions...

EDIT: Ahh sorry for double posting.

You have two choice: Death Adder or G500, I can attest to both since I own both, however go with G500 for the 3 year warrantly standard.

Edit: Get the mx518 if you can get it for $35 or less, and I didn't realize you said you wanted a head phone over a gaming headset, but glad you are taken care off with all those suggestions.

^ Closed ear meaning it covers my whole ear and not sitting on top of it?

My ears feel sore after an hour using an old AKG headphone (a gift).
I end up using in-ears headphones instead.

That won't get you budget headphones, but for that price you'll get junk. Not only will they give you horrible sound, they will fall apart in no time flat.

You might get buy if you get a pair on sale at 50% off for $20. But that's only if you want something for temporary use. You need to invest in a pair of good headphones for good sound, comfort, and durability. Believe me, your ears will thank you.

    PS I know, you're on a budget!
