Using a mid-2009 15" MBP. Have a 23" external monitor, and I'm trying to get a Bluetooth mouse/keyboard ordered so I can just sit the notebook down on the desk, hook up the monitor, and get to it.

So far, it seems like the Apple wireless keyboard is the best bet (anyone have any better suggestions?). I considered the Magic Mouse, but from what I can tell from YouTube videos, it doesn't perfectly isolate fingers on left- and right-clicking if both of them are on the mouse surface. I'm not ruling out an eventual return to even occasional PC gaming, so I'd like to not have a mouse think that my right-click was actually a left+right-click.

Does anyone have any thoughts on a solid Bluetooth mouse?

    Try Razer Orochi.
but you'll need to get used to with the bluetooth's wake-up freeze
--if you're planning to game on bluetooth
because on Orochi it only takes no more than 2 seconds to go to sleep.

Edit: if you don't mind a nano dongle, Roccat Pyra wireless may worth to wait for :D

Yeah, I read about that on Amazon actually -- not sure how I feel about having to keep the mouse in play within every two seconds or so or face sleep. Then again, I don't imagine a mouse would stay steady for seconds at a time in most games.

I think my Sony Vaio Bluetooth mouse doesn't fall asleep too quickly...

But games... don't know how good or bad it is... as I don't game, and the few computer games I played - they never cared if I was 1cm more left or right...

Gaming + Bluetooth = Razer Orochi.

It's got 4,000 DPI and 1ms response time in wired mode (it has a detachable USB cable), and 2,000 DPI and 8ms response in Bluetooth mode. For gaming, wired mode is obviously preferable, but it's still the only mouse I would ever trust to game with in Bluetooth. I think crayonyes exaggerates; it takes more than 2 seconds to fall asleep. And realistically, when you're playing fast-paced games, you probably won't be holding your mouse still anyway. :p

Hmm,, I tought the 1st second the mouse stays still the scroll light turn off instantly, and after that the mouse goes to sleep .

I could be wrong, I forgot.. I already left that behavior and condition anyway :p

    Razer Orochi. Period.

Best bluetooth mouse out there IMO.

The light goes off pretty much as soon as you stop moving it, but it takes a few seconds before it actually goes into idle mode.

I'm sure the Orochi is nice, but I'm a skinflint so I went with this one, and I'm quite happy with it. You need to use a mousepad with it though. It's got 5 buttons, adjustable DPI (two settings), and is pretty responsive (at least from what I recognize when playing). I have no issues with it shutting off while gaming. You may have issues if you let it sit for over 10 seconds, which is about what I've timed it's shutdown time to be, but since that pretty much never happens in games, that's not an issue. The other problem is that it eats batteries ;)

Thanks for the advice, all. I ended up going with an older Microsoft Bluetooth mouse -- largely because I didn't realize just how small some of these mouses were until I saw customer-uploaded pics of them on Amazon. Having spent so much time on an MX518 (and, briefly, an LX8), I think I'd miss full size!

Yeah, I thought that too before getting my Orochi...but damn, they really make the most out of every millimeter of this thing. I have large hands, and I can comfortably hit all 7 buttons without shifting.

That's the reason I got the one I did. It's actually a full-size mouse (just slightly smaller than my Logitech mice, maybe 1/2" shorter). Not a whole bunch of those out there, full-size Bluetooth mice

I was concerned with the Orochi when I first got it home and out of the package but like Mastershroom I'm able to play comfortably for hours and also have pretty large hands. Thou I don't tend to claw at my mouse like some people do.
