Ive been searching for a good notebook mouse, from the microsoft wireless 6000, logitech v400, and the logitech v610. All of these seem to have fault so can anyone suggest a good wireless mouse, my only requirement is that it has a small usb reciever, either one of these three or another suggestion.

    Thanks

I dont know if you read what I wrote on the V400 earlier today, but now that Ive been using it for about 5 hours, I love it even more. What I said before about the wheel click I cant even notice now, ive gotten used to it. I think its a great mouse, but its all in your opinion. If I were you I would go to a store like Best Buy, Circut City, etc. and see/feel them for yourself. Then decide which one is best for you and get it.

I wanted to avoid any USB dongles hanging off my laptop, so I got a Microsoft Optical Mouse for Bluetooth, which I've been happy with. I've always used Microsoft mice and prefer them over the Logitech ones, which seems to be a minority viewpoint, though.

well i dont have bluetooth so thats out, and the major knock i heard on the g7 was that the battery lasted like 5 hours max. I dont know that i want to be changing a battery so often so i guess the search continues...

Has anyone heard good/bad things about the logitech mx610?

It has 2 batteries so you can charge one while using one. then switch them(I could switch those batteries in under 2 seconds, this includes getting the other one charging). But as usual, more opinions are nice.

I can't complain about my Logitech V200. Has a small receiver, fits my hand nicely, and has an estimated battery life of almost a year from two AAs. It is pretty popular. Is it the best? That is up to you to decide.

I don't know who said that the G7 battery lasts 5 hours max. Mine last a couple of days usually. I don't game for 5 hours straight, but when I've used the computer a lot, they still last at least through 8 hours of use. Having two batteries definitely helps too because you can charge one in 2 hours.

ive just read reviews about the g7 that the battery is really short... and for the v200 does that have a dedicated thumb button after going for the foward and back buttons on my mouse i will never go back

If you concern about the battery life, you can consider a rechargable battery cordless optical mouse. I'm using a cordless laptop USB optical mouse. If the battery is going to finish, a light signal will flash for reminding us to need to connect the wire for charging the battery, then i connect the wire to keep using it. At that moment, i don't need to worry about the battery life without a mouse using.

Well, it depends on what you consider short. Like I said, it'll easily last through 8 hours of continuous use, and the second battery will charge in a couple hours, so it's not like it's down time.

Dont go for optical, go for laser. I had a microsoft wireless optical mouse for my previous desktop, and now I have the V400 (laser). I will never go back to an optical, there is such a noticable difference in quality of tracking. You dont have to worry about the battery on it ether. Ive prolly used it about 20+ hours in the past 3 days (im obsessed with my 1210) and its still going strong. Infact the battey shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.

I haven't noticed a signifigant difference between Optical and Laser - probably because my last mouse was a Razer Diamondback (1600DPI), and my current is a Copperhead (2000DPI).

If you're looking for a portable mouse, I'd suggest the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 . . easy to transport, but it does have a dongle.

ACTUALLY THE BEST NOTEBOOK MOUSE IS THE V450. This thing is like a smaller g5 with no weights. This thing is awesome. The usb just slides right under the mouse. This is a must check out! Hope that helps.

Id actully like the usb mouse dongle becuase with my mx510 ive had problems with plugging and unplugging and it not working, and the forward and back buttons are a must for me now that i have used them on my desktop mouse... In other news i decided on a fullsized with the dongle, the logitech mx610 i tried out all the ones at compusa, bestbuy, and circuit city and decided this is the best for my needs

You're right that Logitech V400 has the buttons but I think you have to use your index finger to click it which I think is absurd.

you do have to use your index finger for the v400, something i found extremely annoying...

after using the mx610 i am very impressed its not a notebook mouse but i love it and think that it will be fine to use with a notebook even though it is fullsized
