I know some of you might think "That notebook doesn't need a cooler", but I want to know anyways. What would be the best cooler for this machine? I was hearing good things about the Thermaltake Massive23 and also the Zalman NC2000. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think this has been debated quite a bit and I'm pretty sure it sucks air from the bottom and around the LED bar in the back. But people have been reporting lower temperatures with a cooler so I was looking into it. The Thermaltake Massive23 is definatly the cheapest, but the Zalman NC2000 and NC3000 both look pretty decent. I did hear that the G73JW had better cooling than it's older model but I am I bit paranoid about these sort of things (especially with something this expensive). Plus I will most likely never move it from my desk so it won't be a problem for me.

Also the Cryo looks pretty nice but I can't seem to find it for anywhere near the same price as a Massive23 or a NC2000/3000.

Thermaltake massive cooler is good but its pretty plastic thingy... I am using Coolermaster U2 it's quite solid and has a decent looks and usable up to 17" you can check this site too:

    Cooler Master NotePal U2

This cooler improved my temp significantly. I think there is a 17 - 19" model U3.

It does. Ooops sorry. I read from the internet that fan's intake is within the upper part of the sound. No intake below. Sorry.

Does anyone use the NZXT Cryo LX with the G73JW? How well does it work with it? Thanks!

i couldn't get the bigger image to load either, but a buddy of mine has a G73. if i'm not mistaken, those vents are more towards the middle/back half of the laptop. it also draws air from somewhere near the hinge area of the monitor. it's a kind of complicated situation to recommend a cooler for the g73 since they do have a different cooling philosophy.

i gave my targus x-stand to my buddy, with the g73, and he's reporting some nice temp drops. i'm not sure of an exact number though.

The Zalman NC3000 looks like a good choice, provided you get the version with 3 USB ports instead of 2. It covers basically the entire bottom of the notebook. There's also an optional AC adapter that you can buy separately. I would get the Cryo but I'm trying to save some money.

The one thing that needs to be verified is if the vents on the bottom suck air in, or blow air out. I wouldn't want to buy a cooler that blows air into the laptop when the laptop is actually pushing the air out of the bottom.

But I put CoolerMaster U2 on my G73 and it lowered my temps. Most of the people in the forums says that we don't need cooler, but still I am using one.
It helps. By the way, U2's 2 cooler fan can be replaced to any spot you want. U2 model is for 15 - 17" while U3 is 17 - 19" but not yet released(?).
