    Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a decent laptop backpack for the Sager NP9772, laptop dimensions are 16.4 x 11.1 x 1.5 inches.

    Conditions:
    • Dedicated compartment that'll properly secure my laptop and offer decent padding.
    • I'd prefer it being low profile. I don't want to be carrying around anything too flashy or too bulky, just something for my laptop, AC adapter and some other minor accessories.
    • Has to be a backpack, not messenger bag/carrying case style.
    • Budget's between 40-50$, might go a little higher.
    • Orderable from Amazon US.
I was wondering if anyone had any personal recommendations to offer?

Thanks, it might be a little bigger than what I'm looking for, but I'll check it out.

    I use this beast: http://www.cat-bags.com/int/products/view/70

It holds my AW 17R-1 with all its power supply stuff, my Logitech G600 mouse, 18 inch big cooling pad & lots of more stuff. She still has a lot of space in her for even more stuff :D

And won't start talking about durability cuz as u can see she is Caterpillar :newpalm:

I bought a Targus XL and extremely pleased with it, plenty of room yet not too bulky.

Thanks for the recommendations guys! I've been reading up on the Targus XL and I'm almost sold on it. In my opinion it may have a couple of weird design choices, but overall looks solid.

While looking up the XL I happened to stumble upon the Targus Drifter II, which I found has slightly better design choices for my needs. Does anyone have any experience with it? Like how good is the laptop padding, straps, grip ect?

I use a Targus Demolition. I have had it for almost a year. Its held up nice considering how large a clevo p170sm is. I travel frequently and I was under the impression I would need a new pack by now. The main criteria that drew me to it in the first place is that it opens up into one large compartment vs the 2 or 3 small most packs are broken up inside with. Very satisfied, would buy again.

So just a little update: I ended up going with the SwissGear ScanSmart 1900. By chance I was able to get a hold of it and the Targus XL and after comparing both the SwissGear was what I was most comfortable with.

Thanks again for all the recommendations .

17" cb has too much flex, even w/aluminum cases. Zingggggg! There goes another cap(acitor chip.) Good luck.

With what computer did you have these unhappy experiences? Some less expensive 17.3 inch computers are built as desktop replacements not meant to leave a desk at home. Others are stronger and built as mobile workstations meant to packed frequently for travel. One common test is to see if you can press the back of the lid and deform the image on the screen. Another is to test for keyboard flex. For your circuit board, it sounds like bottom flex may also be a problem in some computers.

Aluminum sounds like it could help, but if too thin and light it could bend under stress. (Everything has some limit. For example, like the mobile phones that bend, most are not meant to be sat upon.)
