Hello First post on the forum so yay ^_^ !

I've been lurking around the site for a few months now looking for information but i haven't been able to find very much. I was looking for a decent laptop case (preferably some sort of Attache ) for the clevo p170 series. Most Attache Cases I've found seemed like they would either be too small or that the laptop would just barely fit not leaving much room for accessories or even the power brick :/ (the power brick for clevo's is massive! ).

Some have recommended that i look at slappa as they make cases built for gamers but most of their designs look rather garish ( and somewhat ugly ) and it seems like they only make one hard case. The hard case they make says it is supposed to accommodate a 17 inch laptop but i have no idea how big it is inside and if it can accommodate all the accessories i would want to bring with me (as well as the ginormous power brick).

Basically i've been looking for several months now for something that will adequately protect the laptop and something that can accommodate all of its accessories ( power brick, head phones, mouse, gaming controller maybe an external HDD small ) and was wondering if you guys could help me out because i have no idea where to look.

I was looking at something that looks like this as i like its aesthetic, it looks professional and its a hard case Brancas Attache Case @ Amazon So if anyone has any experience with using aluminum attache cases and how it accommodates such a large laptop (17 inches :O ) any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, the Geo case from the "original maker of this stuff" Zero Halliburton would seem to be a just fit, not sure about the accessories: Geo Aluminum Attache - Large Laptop Case | ZERO HALLIBURTON. You'd probably want to get some high density foam custom cut to fit.

Cheap aluminium cases aren't really worth it since they're constructed more for looks than protection (unless that's all you want). 'Proper' aluminium cases like the Halliburtons are made of a substantial chunk of cold-rolled alloy. However this also makes them very weighty - a typical attache-sized Zero is 3-4Kgs so you're in effect carrying two gaming notebooks if you put yours in there - and still quite crushable if you happen to bang a corner against something.

Thing is that whatever Apple says, Aluminium isn't actually an optimum material to build durable yet comparatively light structures from these days - which is why all of us who used to carry Zero Halliburton weapons cases / etc have now moved to rotomoulded polymer Pelican / Hardiggs, since while our cases still might weigh roughly the same, they're substantially stronger. The 1495CC1 would be the Pelican equivalent of the Geo.

Personally for something that heavy, I'd get a sleeve and a backpack.

Thanks for the response Vogelbung !
I've looked at Zero Halliburton but their price's are astronomical. The same with pelican most of the time but pelican appears to be substantially cheaper than Zero Halliburton.

Why do you say the cheaper aluminum cases are more for looks than protection ? I'm assuming they would offer more protection than a standard backpack or a messenger bag would offer right ? I wasn't planning on throwing my laptop underneath a tank or detonating it with explosive, or submerging it in water, i mostly wanted a hard case to protect from impacts and also for looks.

I'm open to any other sort of materials as far as hard cases go so long as they are hard cases. Preferably i'd like to stay below 200 bucks as well if possible ._. $250 at max but that is pushing it.

In a backpack with a sleeve? Doubt it IRL.

Cheaper aluminium cases are - well, think Coke cans. They're usually made of a pretty soft grade / process of aluminium as well as / or thinner shells. What you'll find yourself doing is nursemaiding the case as much as the laptop. If looks are what you want though, a $150 aluminium case should be fine.
