I was thinking of getting one since I dont want any accidental scratches on the screen. Is it a good idea to get one to protect the screen?
Anyone out there using a screen protector and what do you think about it?

    Any comment will be appreciated.

    Thank you.

If you have a tablet pc, I guess it would really be wise to have it (although I don't use one). Otherwise, it seems to be a real overkill. It's not like you come in contact with the screen that often.

If you are talking about one of the cloths that you put between the screen and keyboard, I think they are very worth it. There is some noticable damage on my screen from when I wasnt using one, and it keeps the screen cleaner, and keeps the keyboard fromg etting as gross as fast.

Not sure about what you are talking about - a screen protector is a piece of clear plastic that goes over the screen.

I was talking about the clear plastic sheet placed on LCD.

They do have screen protectors that are a piece of cloth that sits between the keyboard and the LCD when the laptop is closed, they are for when the laptop is not in use.

Any know a online store that will ship to Canada that sells a variety of LCD screen protectors and the aforementioned cloth protectors?

i have a screen protector for my PDA and i must say that it kinda sucks
i've probably done more damage to my screen my trying to get the protector on with out bubbles then i would have through regular use.
it definitely cuts down the screen clarity and responsiveness.

I got an exim SPUC one for my SZ (off ebay) and I have to say I am much more impressed than I was with the ones I had used for my mobile and old PDA.

It was easy putting it on and there's no bubbles at all. I had a bit of lint on the back of the protector, but a bit of scotch tape just took it right off. Repositioning the protector was a piece of cake too.

As for clarity and transmission, I can't see the difference with it on or off. This also means that I no longer need to put a piece of cloth between the keyboard and the screen anymore

I was thinking of getting EXiM Screen Protector Sony VAIO SZ & S series 13.3" SZ2 from eBay as well. That was the reason I posted here. I think I'm gonna go ahead and order one.

Do it. I got one for my X60 and it looks wonderful, although the screen protector has a slight reflective surface. No bubbles, and very transparent. Great stuff. Make sure you get it from pda-now.

One problem for me is that is does not cover the entire screen. There is about a 3 mm gap on top and a 4 mm gap on the right if you place the EXiM toward the bottom southwest position. This probably only applies to the X60 model. The second problem is that the removal procedure does not work well with me. I decided to try the removal procedure with tape and it does not work. I tried brand name Scotch and some cheapo brands, but they all fail. I wanted to use the mother of all tapes, duck tape, but then I realized that might leave so residue. :) SO I decided to give up as this problem is only minor and I will probably never remove it.

Got mine from pda-now too. The SZ one leaves a 1.5-2mm gap as well, but it fits perfectly to the screen area that is actually in use. Basically equidistant gaps top and bottom, and I started from the left edge of the active LCD screen rather than the hard edge of the screen.

I used a soft plastic edged card to lift it back up rather than the scotch tape. I don't think the scotch tape has enough pull to lift it
