Are you worried about radiation that is coming from the notebook? This is the first I have heard of a computer producing radiation. Do you have more information on this?

I'm guessing the OP is referring to either thermal or EM radiation, which all electronics emit - not the kind of radiation leaking out of Fukushima.

    1) The damage you receive is minimal compared to the carcinogens, pthalates, and estrogen mimicking compounds you are exposed to on a daily basis.
    2) Ever computer contains components that are known to be harmful to male reproductive cells.
    3) The only thing you can do is avoid placing the family jewels in warm environments (they hang outside the body for a reason), so either don't use the computer on your lap, or purchase whatever small laptop stand/nighttable/ is comfortable for you. Here's an example of an incredibly overpriced one, but you should get the idea

I wouldn't say bogus, but I would say it preys on the fact that most people don't understand science. Electromagnetic radiation sounds spooky...until you realize that basic light is electromagnetic radiation.
    Electromagnetic Spectrum - Introduction

The pad only claims to block heat - which as long as it does that, it's claims aren't bogus. In reference to protecting the jewels, they do need to be at a lower temperature than normal body temp. Heat is a known enemy of the male gonads, so any product that prevents the laptop from heating up your lap will be just as effective, whether it's an old pillow or a $100 laptop desk.

The pad is mostly bogus. It is true that too much heat, or for too long is not good. This is why better heating pads offer a timer. This is also why they don't call them laptops any more. If you want to use a notebook on your lap, then you need a flat smooth surface on top, other wise the notebook could over heat. So something like a flat board can work fine. Next, if it feels like a heating pad, i.e. too warm or hot, then simply put a blanket under the board. Now you have a thermal barrier. And yes, heat can temporarly affect semen production. But the blanket is enough.

The blocking electromagnetic (EM) radiation is bogus. These things are tested by the FCC to make sure the EM they put out is safe. No worries at all there. In fact if this product worked, it may block your wifi signal. You have more risk by carrying a cell phone in your pocket. And even those are safe.

    Hope this helps.

I like to have mine on my lap for general work when it does not get warm at all. But short periods of heat should only be a problem to the family jewels if you are currently trying to have a baby.

What I don't understand is people who buy insulating pads to protect their family jewels, instead of moving the source of heat away from them.

I'd just teabag some ice in a bucket if I was that concerned.

Well, obviously water cooling is superior to air cooling. This is a tech forum after all.
