    Hello everyone,
I am spending a lot of time to researche a pad that can help my note book (vostro 1400) more cooler. I don't play any hard game

And now i'm hasitating between a Pad with fans which use power from a USB Port of notebook and a pad (a support) without any fan. This Pad (support, stand) just allows air flow through better between the laptop and what it sits upon.

Plus, a notebook cooler (with fans) uses the computer for power so you are further heating it up to use the cooling pads (?) and nowdays with Intel Core2Duo CPU, a nootebook is much cooler than before, isn't it ?

Well I don't know how to explain well and my english is not too good.
Hope u can understand and give me a good advise.

    Thank you in advance

using a notebook cooler with fans wont heat up your computer as it just utilizes USB port...it ll just consume more electricity (few cents extra)...
Cooling notebook will require a fan otherwise its just a notebook stand...

U should look for Belkin notebook cooler or Zalman ZM-NC1000

    Zalman: http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/view.asp?idx=224&code=030

    Belkin: http://reviews.cnet.com/notebook-accessories/belkin-laptop-cooling-stand/4505-6459_7-32335791.html

Otherwise u can do a job like me...i keep my notebook on a thick maths textbook which is placed in centre of the notebook base so the vents are open this way heat flows out continously....
& i place a custom made stand at the back of the textbook to give the notebook an inclination for easy viewing & further cooling of RAM slots

Advantage: It gives the notebook an elevation free of cost plus prevents overheating.

P.S: its a cheap job but works for me...as i prefer spending on expensive gaming accesories & RAM upgrades

I have an acer travelmate and it heats up a lot so i made my own laptop stand by utilizing some rubber sheets and a used acylic board and i drilled holes for ventelation since i could not find any laptop coolers big enough to fit my unit.

Ideally laptop coolers should correspond to the vent holes of the laptop design otherwise it would just be another way to waste power.

what? so you put your thick math textbook beneath your notebook and this causes the vents to be open? and you place custom made stand behind the textbook?? can you describe it a little bit more clearer? thanks.

lol I like the setup its definitely something different. you can actually buy cooling pads and notebook vent stations that can help out with underside ventilation better than i think your maths book can.

    great idea but

    i bought this one:
    http://www.hiyatek.com/p-cf-6159.htm

but i dont think it's good..the base isnt high enough so the fan only creates more air if there is actually nothing blocking it from underneath.
