So recently I bought a set of Monster Turbines of eBay (from 'hi-end-wholesale' for $107). Here's my breakdown of it after owning it for a couple of days:

The bass is great, having been stuck with Audio-Technica ATH-AD700s for six months, this is probably the first time I've heard bass for a while. While the AD700s aren't bad, their bass just doesn't compare to the kick I get out of these Turbines.

Having said that, I feel like the highs and mids could be a bit better. My AD700s handle vocals a bit better IMO, and it's a bit more distinct.

All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with this purchase (although I'm already looking forward to another set of earphones :p )

Heh, well I always want more stuff

(the old adage, you always want what you don't have :p so theoretically, if I didn't own the Turbines, I would want the more)

    Haha, they are nice though

Heh, I've been using some Klipsch X10s, too lazy to go out and get some moulds for my ears made.

One note about these: The cable is INSANELY fragile, don't exercise too much with them (I loaned these to a friend and he broke them -.- )

Cant really fairly compare the AD700's to the Monster Turbine

Its like saying you have been stuck with a Mustang for a while but its not as fast as your new Honda CBR 954 RR.

Open Air headphones vs Sealed Earbuds, that tight fit in the ear is what allows these to produce so much audible bass.

Its a lot easier for me to drop the $$$ for some cans since they are big and "there" little earbuds I have yet to purchase a pair of high end ones as in most cases the device they are attached to is not even capable of good qulaity, and at home I prefer the comfort and soundstage of my headphones.

Haha yea quite true but they were my only point of reference at that point :( I love my open air headphones to death but they're not exactly portable so I was forced to get some IEMs
