    had this circle show up on some of my games when I got my new laptop... was never on my old alienware 17

    it was on

    rise of the tomb raider played with some setting and now its not their

    same for thief 4

    but I cant get it removed from witcher 3

    what is it called?

    what setting do I change

    My initial guess would be that this circle is part of some audio software you have, that can tell you from what direction sound is coming from.

    It's in the system audio settings. It's a radar to visually see the directions audio occurs in game. You can disable it there. Just click on the arrow to view the items hidden in the system tray to the right on the Taskbar and you will find it.

    Asus has something similar it's called sonic radar. It's a cool feature and can be helpful in FPS style games, but not so useful in the games you mentioned.


    EDIT: Just in case someone else stumbles on this post and can't figure out how to disable it. Click on the Alienware Sound Center icon in the system tray and disable it under the Audio Recon tab. Also, the default macro to turn it off without having to do all that is "Left CTRL + Left SHIFT + S" all together like you would with "CTRL +ALT +DEL".
