Here is the issue : when the machine isn't connected to the power supply, the touchpad works perfect..
when I connect the laptop to the power supply , the mouse cursor goes crazy when using the touchpad... This problem doesn't happen when connecting an external mouse.

Tried reinstalling touchpad drivers, Tried factory reset windows 8.1... tried discharging battery and then pressing on power button to discharge electricity... nothing seems to work.

Also Important to note i switched between the HDD i recieved with the machine to an SSD, but for awhile it worked perfectly....

any ideas what could be causing this problem ?

    Hi,
I used to have same problem with one of the laptops i was fixing. The symptoms were exactly like yours. I've even replaced the touchpad but i didn't help. Finally after few days I've replaced the power adapter and it resolved the issue. I hope this will help.
