    hi all

i got the new 17r2 a few weeks again and ive noticed the volume for music just sucks compaired to the older m17x models,
i have looked at setting etc etc and everything is on full but its still crap. any ideas ? ive even gone as far as looking for volume boosters but they are crap to.

am using the 180w psu but after about 20 mins of game play i start noticing my alien head started changing colours (that i set for charging) so i would have about 3 hours of game play with my psu connected and a flat battery.

i will ring tech support if they where available at late evenings but ill try another day.
    some advice would be great.

just seems spending £4k on a semi working laptop might have not been the best idea....

    thanks in advance

According to other people here the speakers aren't really that great. I mean they do the job, but they're not exactly top of the line awesome speakers. There is a known problem with realtek soundcards though that can make this problem worse. So try uninstalling the sound drivers and then reinstalling it with the ones from the dell support website.

Also make sure the music is coming from the front speakers and not just the subwoofers. Someone else has had a similar issue where the music only played from the sub and so it was very quiet.

As for the battery issue since you're in the UK you might not be able to get the 240W PSU. So you're kindoff out of luck there until Alienware fixes the power draw issues with the BIOS.
