Totally ridiculous isnt it? I noticed this a while ago.
I dont think its just us (UK) consumers that have been hit either.

Anyone from the US want to check how much it is for them to renew warranty?

scandalous m8 !! couldnt believe that quote i nearly fell off my seat !! the price you pay for these laptops you should be getting at least a 3 year warranty on top, this is my 2nd alienware laptop i did buy one brandnew about 4 years ago from dell & i know they look nice with shiny bright lights etc but ive asked myself are they really worth it ? i ended up selling my first alienware and bought an msi which performed a hell of a lot better than the alienware ! got this one pretty cheap and needed a laptop urgent so i pray this lasts me but wont hold my breath

Yes, but you could aslo opt for the warranty only without the premium support. At least it's possible in sweden and the prices....1year 70$, 2year 130$, 3year 200$.
The difference? i was told that if you go premium they can help with some non hardware related software issues and also game support 24/7. But the warranty is the same.
You can't order it online tough so you have to call the Dell support line not sales.

been looking around the forum reading bits and bobs and seen stuff about repasting ? whats that about ! you buy an alienware at premium prices and folks are having to repair dells ****ups !! to be honest i dont really hold much hope for the second hand one ive bought before it turns into an expensive doorstop, keep telling myself i maybe should have tried harder for another MSI,hopefully mine wont need this repasting

i do but he ended up quoting someone else like 700£ for the same thing (as you quoted). i did my upgrade in May, and also my laptop was transfered from the usa (warranty transfer) so i don't know if that netted me maybe a better deal?

Anyway another forum goer just recently emailed my contact (sirjeefroy) and they quoted him the same as you.. I would just keep calling and asking for quotes.. that's what I did.

Well i got my Alienware 17 for 2700$ and the MSI is 3800$, the MSI has 4k screen and 32GB RAM but i dont't want 4k on 17,3" and RAM is cheap to upgrade. The MSI aslo have this plastic feeling to it that i don't like.

And we also have the ASUS G701VI but it has a 6700HQ CPU and 1080 screen instead and costs 3000$.

Maybe since my delivery got delayed cause of new parts and they have some QA testing before shipping they might have fixed the issue with the arm and paste.
Otherwise it's no biggy to fix this even tough i agree that i shouldn't have to do that, but remeber that you could have Dell send a guy to fix this for you.

think they have a bloody cheek charging what they do for these laptops & you have to repaste them ! after how long are you supposed to do it ? mine is second hand about a year old & as you see out of warranty,is it some sort of overheating problems ? dont fancy tackling that to be honest
