Can you tell us what error was thrown when BSOD came up? Did you burn the ISO in MBR & GPT compatible mode?

I ordered the same exact combination (AW 17 R3 with just the 1TB spindle in it along with the SM951 ssd from newegg). The computer sees and is able to write data to the drive without issue but only within Windows enviornments. From BIOS, the drive doesn't show up at all in any boot mode (legacy, UEFI, etc). So, I can boot from an ISOSTICK and install windows 10 but as soon as it restarts, BIOS can't see the drive to boot from.

I'm currently working on creating a bootable USB UEFI version for Windows 10 but I'm 97% sure this won't solve the issue. I'm also going to try updating the BIOS as well. Unfortunately, I think this is going to be an issue of Dell needing to update their BIOS so that drive shows up.

From what I read, it's an act of God to get BIOS updates from Dell.

Have you tried Rufus to burn ISO, now get those ISOs from MS directly and try burning the ISO in UEFI mode only through Rufus. Use this link

You need to load the driver during windows setup. Or else WIndows cant find the drive. You also can install it in raid/sata mode first. Begin a reboot in windows 10 while pressing the shift button to schedule a safe boot. While it reboots go to the bios and enable AHCI. start windows in safe mode and install the NVME driver from samsung. Reboot into normal mode and it will boot fine now with NVME enabled.

But OP has installed AHCI version of the drive. Its better to check UEFI BIOS settings for USB boot and SATA/AHCI or Compatible settings.

WIndows can only use this drive in NVME mode when the drivers are loaded. These drivers have to be loaded during setup as well. the mechanical drive has to be removed if it has windows on it. Or else secureboot will keep starting from that drive. That drive can be reformatted after the setup process.
