questions about alienware 15 r3 kindly help?

i wanna order alienware 15r3 but configuration is really makes me confuse
i will be mainly use it for editing and playing games
build quality and the metal body what brought me to alienware as im planing to keep it for long time i hope
so do i go with i7-7700HQ or i7-7820HK
if i goes with the unlocked version i7-7820HK well the machine handle the overclock heating well or it will be a waste of money, dose the extra speed if over clocked and cache gonna help me regarding rendering,etc ?

1535 Killer wifi

regarding display also i dont know witch one to pick
FHD 1080P IPS 60HZ 300nit G-SYNC or FHD 1080P 120HZ TN 400nit G-SYNC Screen
regarding colors accuracy etc

what do you really guys recommend as for the past 5 days i'm reading all sort of posts and i still didn't set my mind yet

 

If buying 1070 - 7820HK
If buying 1060 - save your money and get a 7700HQ

 

Also:
If you want a 1070, go for the 120Hz display, as the FHD-60Hz panel is overkill for a 1070.

about display i read that 120Hz panels has some problems regarding colors accuracy is that true
and what do you mean by 60Hz is overkill for 1070?

 

The GTX 1070 produces a lot more than 60fps in even the most demanding games that exist to this day. Having a 120Hz panel means games will look extremely smooth beyond 60, and the extra horsepower the 1070 provides won't go to waste.
When it comes to color accuracy, the 120Hz TN panel is not that bad at all. Ir's not as horrible as the older TN panels used in cheap laptops. It's true, it's worse than an IPS panel but I personally see more benefits for having a calibrated 120Hz panel.

It really depends on how you see it. The IPS still proves to be superior when it comes to color reproduction and viewing angles. For the folks who do photo editing, the winner is clear. The IPS panel has a superior contrast a d a better color gamut.

To me, either choice is good, mainly because the 60Hz IPS panel is G-Sync ready for games (it helps with smoothening the game when locked at 59fps). The 120Hz panel is also impressive, even during daily use. Although it does look washed out and too bright at some occasions, Windows is snappy as ****.

 

If you're doing any kind of colour-sensitive work - IPS is the bare minimum, hell, OLED Alienware 13 is even better. TN is just not well suited towards that as the technology is simply not good enough.

 

i can say you this..... if you have the money, go with the best you can buy, you will never feel bad. if i was you, i will check a look for the 17 r4 and look a discount for gtx 1080 and 7820hk .... is not going to be cheap, but having the best of the best is am incomparable feeling. Alienware right now fixed all the problems on heatsink. I know the 3 screw design is not the best, but the heatsink is really good designed and make a good job

 

According to Dell the new 120hz panel is now supposed to be IPS........ but there is some confusion if this is true or not. When I tried to order mine at the config screen it states IPS panel, but in the order status screen it would change to a TN panel description. I ended up cancelling and went with the 13 OLED.

 

No, it's a TN panel, but they advertize it as "WideView" because it is supposed to look better than the TN panels used many years ago.
