    Hi,
I ordered an alienware 17 (GTX 980m/4710hq-4720hq) and a friend of mine will bring me the system during his visit to US. I've been reading all these posts about CPU throttling and heating issues so I'm very worried now. Since I live in Turkey I don't know what I can do if I get a faulty laptop. Also the order was given in June 25 so the 21 days return time is over. What kind of support can I get if I get a faulty laptop? I ordered the laptop with the 1 year alienware basic support.

Apart from my question above, I'd like to put in words a few thoughts of mine. An alienware laptop has been a DREAM to me for a long time. Now I have a chance to get one but seeing all these posts + still no fix after 8 months since the release of these laptops make me think I've been wrong all this time to want an alienware laptop. I don't have the laptop yet and I hope I will get a functional laptop but just seeing all these complaints make me think I should've bought asus or msi. I can't even understand how a high-end pc manufacturer can be this much irresponsible. I saw at least 40-50 posts of complaint in this forum and Alienware Arena.

Go to any specific brand or product forum, there's where all the complaints are, personally I love my AW15, but then again this is my first Alienware product so far so I can't speak for the people that have owned a lot more...

It's going to be my first alienware laptop too. I don't really care about the missing raid and upgradeability of components (graphics amp should do the work in the future). I just want the system to work as it is intended. I don't need some hard OC stuff either. All I ask is to use the CPU with its turbo-boost feature without problems.

I'm yet to experience thermal throttle on mine, you should ask your local Dell if they'd help you in case of needing to apply your warranty. I've had 2 laptops from the US (I live in mexico) and never had a problem (HP laptops, not hardware issues but the software is a pain in the a55) but on my current Alienware the left speaker started rattling so I used my warranty and the next day my 15 had new speakers, that is the benefit of buying locally IMO, I was about to buy an Asus ROG series because of the global warranty but I couldn't find a better price than my 15 but you should check out their lineup.
