My new alienware 15 will be with me on friday
I've purchased a samsung eve 500gb sata m.2 ssd drive which will be my main drive and would like to still use the 1tb hd for movies pics etc
Question is how do i migrate everything to my new ssd drive the easiest way possible ?
is there a simple way to do this as i don't really want to fresh install?

    Thanks

If you want, you can try use Macrium Reflect. Oh, but you would have to move off 500GB of those files to an external drive first. Before you clone the drive you need to make sure that you have less than 464/500GB of files on your original HDD so that they can fit.

Easiest way I have seen (for the average person) is to use a commercial product like "Paragon Migrate OS to SSD 4.0". It's like $20. The nice thing about it, is you can clone/copy a running system (aka "hot" clone). It also handles the partitioning / offset / free space reduction / makes sure the new disk it bootable / etc. and is dead simple to use. It's also pretty cheap (a pure cloning tool, often costs more, and the typical user doesn't need it).

Personally I tend to use more advanced tools. But then, I am a more advanced user.

Disclaimer: I have no relationship nor any stock or other vested interest in this company or product.

Lots of options, now i'm not sure which one to go for!!
is there anything i need to do in the bios before i clone
or do i just simply fit the m.2 ssd and do the clone, or when i reboot will it boot to my 1tb hd still?

You might have to change boot options in the BIOS.

The easiest way I bet it's AOMEI Backupper. If you take a look at its concise designed interface, you will believe me.
If your PC is a desktop, I suggest you clone your hdd to ssd with a free backup and restore software , such as aomei backupper, as long as your ssd have enough space for the data on the hdd. If your ssd does not have that much space, you can slim your HDD by removing data to another storage device or use system clone to only migrate your operating system(OS) to the SSD instead.

If what you have is a laptop, there is a workaround to clone hard drive to SSD with Backupper, which is tobackup your hard disk to an external USB drive and boot your laptop with a bootable media created by Backupper to restore the backup image of your hdd to SSD.

We've always recommended to go for a clean install when moving from an HDD to a SSD. But, you can use Norton Ghost or some other cloning software to do the migration.
