just put my new m2 sdd in the alien and unplugged power lead on motherboard before i plugged in the m2
plugged back in turned over to power up and nothing ?? ive plugged in the charger and the alien power button is just glowing colours but laptop is not coming on ?

    is it canned ?

also unplugged the 1tb drive of the board but now plugged back in and still the same

ok update i removed the m2 and its powering up again ?? is it faulty or what ? it will only fit one way or anything to do with the screw im using to hold it in ? im using one of the screws of the cover as the thread is the same, just had a look at video and transfer thats on m2 is facing up the way ? mine wont fit in that way its like the m2 has to be upside down to fit my slots

    Intel 600p 256GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD/Solid State Drive

scan are telling me to put it in upside down with sticker underneath

2 pins at bottom of the ssd one is very small and the other is long where it plugs into my port the sticker would be underneath to get this to fit like turning the ssd upside down

tried this and laptop would not power on ! removed ssd and it powered up again luckily !!

There are indeed several types of M.2 SSD Media. Be sure you got one with the "M Key", as that is the one that fits in the longer 2 slots. That p600 should do fine.

Using static protection, and unplugging the battery before making physical mods is a good idea too. Check your connections, SSD, cables, and memory before plugging it in again.

now im getting check cable connection ! pxe-mof exiting pxe rom ? reboot and select proper boot device

not tried the ssd again im running the 1tb but getting this now

i unplugged the power when i first started this then unplugged the 1tb hd put the ssd in and it wouldnt come on

every video etc i look at for m2ssd for the alienware 15 r2 has 3 pins on at the end of the ssd that pushes into port ? mine only has 2 and will only fit upside down

    cant figure this out

have you booted with the old boot medium and see if windows detect the drive for you?

iirc it has to be RAID ON for boot setting in bios so that windows can read the nvme + rapid storage driver for ssds

only the 950 pro/960 evo-pro series from samsung do not need the nvme driver, only needing raid on (or even ahci, cmiiw)

was wondering myself if the ssd is faulty

1tb hd was not showing in bios but its there now, pulled connection off and put on again but its not loading windows anymore

but as ive said does it matter about this not having 3 pins at end of ssd ? and having to go in with sticker underneath side
