Suddenly today I have the following error messages while playing "for maximum performance please connect your alienware to ac power".

The strange thing is, its connected and the blue light is on. It disappears after I reconnect the AC adapter. When this happens it also switches to battery power.

Is my AC adapter dying or do I have to dig deeper?

Had the same issue once. Connector was not fully plugged in, maybe by 1 mm, that was enough for it to not recognize it as Alienware adapter.

I plugged it in multiple times. But then I noticed it might not be because of the adapter. I cleared the EC/nvram/cmos by connecting the jumpers near the ram memory socket. This seems to have fixed it.

It would "disconnect" at a set time constantly and it would work when reconnecting again. But it would not work if I unplugged the power cable itself and put it back in too quickly (some left over power is still being supplied by the DC after that). Very strange issue but fixed for now.

Also check that 3 pin connectors that connect to adapter is held tight. It happened once.

Checked it all. Seems to be software/bios. But in contact with the alienware team now. Hope its nothing. Dont want to go through motherboard replacements and such unless i am allowed to do it myself. Those technicians that come on site are terrible and my laptop is kinda my everything. I do my work on it and all the entertainment after work.
