May or may not work, depending on manufacturer's decision. This is according to Razer CEO himself.

Knowing that Dell/AW has the GA, they probably will outright block the Razer Core from functioning in the TB equipped Alienware because it's a competitor's product, and they can safely just say "it's not compatible".

I'm going to move your thread into the sub-forum for your product family. It's out of place here in the main forum and will get better exposure among owners of the same model.

Also, there might actually be a slight performance drop when compared to the AGA. The AGA port is effectively a PCIe extension cable/slot whereas Graphics Adapters running over TB are subject to a PCIe to TB controller, potentially slowing things down. Theoretically at least.

Seeing as both ports have 4 PCI lanes, you may as well stick with the dedicated AGA port....

It could still work. Since the Alienware laptops are able to use a graphics amplifier, software-wise, the system can utilize an external gpu. Razer's Core utilizes Intel's detachable graphics standard, and our laptops clearly uses that standard as well. there's a really good chance it will work, but not without issues or workarounds.

The alienware now with the AGA doesnt use Intel their standard.

But that doesnt mean it cant use the Razer core. TIme will tell. At least it is a full thunderbolt that the AW15/17 has now unlike the Gigabyte laptops which only have the port for USB c but no thunderbolt support.
