Hi,
sorry to start ANOTHER bios thread. i searched first and spent about 15 minutes reading the other bios 1.4.4 posts before writing this.
i received the notification in the lower right of my screen that there was a bios update.
i clicked install. it restarted and hung. i left it for 15 minutes and then rebooted. i did this twice with the same result. just left me at a black screen with the keyboard lit up.
so i downloaded the bios update from the dell site, temporarily disabled windows defender, right clicked the update, and chose run as administrator. when doing this i got the message you see in the attached picture. i tried this twice with the same result.
i then received the update notification in the corner of my screen again, tried that with windows defender temporarily disabled, and this time instead of a black screen, received the same message as you see in my attached image.
i figure i should just ask you experts before i screw something up. i use this computer all day every day to run my sign shop.
computer is an alienware 17r3 running windows 10 pro.
windows update says i'm up to date with the updates
currently, the BIOS version is 1.3.10
i've also included a "system information" screenshot.
if anyone needs more info from me, clue me in and i'll post it.
am i doing something wrong? i'm hoping it's simple like "you need to disable XX first".
or if the update isn't important, is there a way to make the notification stop popping up hourly on my screen?
thank you in advance,
Robert.

the "update nag" popup in the screen has stopped popping up and it works fine as is, so holding off will be fine. i literally run a business on this computer so i'm always a bit nervous about things like bios updates/bricking, but i try to keep things up do date. this thread was me asking just in case i was making a simple mistake, overlooking a security setting or something that i should disable.
thank you both.
