Hi everyone, i just got my brand new AW 17 about a week ago. It is a wonderful machine until lately i have noticed some minor backlight bleeding at the bottom left of my screen. This happened only when my background is completely dark. Is this acceptable or should i return it? Here are some pictures about the light bleeding

All IPS screens suffer from some a little bit of blacklight bleed. Mine came with a significant amount, as in the entire top left corner would look slightly yellow instead of white. And it had a couple of stuck pixels in that corner too...which point to some damage during shipping / manufacturing.

If it bothers you, you can get the laptop exchanged or get a tech out to replace just the monitor. But just keep in mind that it's an inherent flaw of IPS technology, and since each monitor is different you may get very lucky and get one without any bleed or you may get unlucky and get one with slightly more bleed or bleed in a different corner.

Hi cookies981, Do u think mine is at an acceptable level ? it is a great machine for gaming and i also love the display, much better than my old asus laptop, but it is kinda annoying when i tried to watch a movie with dark background. It is like i know it is there, so i always unconsciously pay attention to the bottom left corner :\

    Pretty much like bnosam said.

If it bothers you, its always going to bother you. So you might as well get it replaced now while you can before you can't haha.

I would say return it and exchange it. A minor bleed, to me, is when it's not visual during the screen is on view (game, movie, etc).

Now that you noticed it, you will notice it until you exchange this laptop in years. This would bother the hell out of me too.

If you can live with it, I would still suggest calling the returns/satisfaction department and ask for some sort of refund for keeping a defective item. I had a minor back panel cover issue (internal clip broken) and I demanded a 15% off for keeping the device. I got it.

    Good luck.
