It keeps the battery charged at a certain percentage. Then runs from the adapter only.

It's in the Power Option, but you have to right click on the Power Option then click "Desktop Mode battery charge", I'll include a picture below as ref.

And this is after you click it.

Note: After you enable it, it may take up to 2 week before it activate, when it does, it will drain or charge your battery to around 75% and keep it there until you disable or unplug, then the process start over again after 1-2 weeks. You will see the battery status as "75% available (plugged in, not charging)."

Oh yeah, this is on Windows 8.1, I'm not sure if Windows 10 has it though, I havent upgrade it yet.

Thanks, much appreciated, a notification showed today but I dismissed it, first time ever that I see that and yes, it works on Windows 10.

Off topic: battery seems a little better on windows 10, around 6 hours battery life.

For the battery part, yeah my friends told me that the battery optimization is way better, however I'll confirm it when I upgrade to Windows 10 in the weekend.

Hi, does it mean that you don't turn Your laptop off for 2 weeks so that it will activate?

No, you use it as usual, it's just that it will "activate" within 2 weeks, I think this is more like a "calibration" period, as I notice after I have it full charge/use it unplugged, sometimes it's only take 2 days to a week to get it "activate" again.

Did you leave the laptop plug continuously for more than 2 weeks? Because it will not activate if you unplugged every few days, it has to remain plugged in constantly up to 2 weeks then you should notice the battery level drop to 75%.

Yeah, as that is what I did, I just leave it plug in continuously, after the desktop mode get activated, basically you will run the laptop off the AC power, then in the case where you got power shut off, the battery will simply kick in as if you're manually unplug, but the desktop mode process will start over.
