ok i decided to remove the heatsink and see how is going to looks like ...
the performance of conductonaut become better with time ... seems like the metal compound penetrated on copper, making the contact better.

the compound was really easy to remove compared with liquid ultra.

nice to see that only a 1/4 of a dot bleed from the gpu but i think is because i applied too much, but the contact was perfect

I applied it on the same way again and the temperatures was 2 grades higher than before, so i let a test running and after a week of the repaste the temperatures are the same again. from my experience i can say that conductonaut didn't loose performance in any way with time, at least not in 1 year

Yeah, this is reassuring, since I've just received my conductonaut and plan to repaste this weekend. Btw, haven't you put tapes around the chips to protect from possible leaks on the mobo (as iunlock did)?

i used transparent nail polish ( 3 layers ) like painting a nail covering the metal contacts hahaha and nothing happens, is better in thermals than black tape, i used both before, and as you can see, nothing wrong happened 1 year later, in fact a little 1/4 dot was on the metal contacts of the gpu and the nail polish did his job well :)

So if the liquid metal leaks on the nail polish, do you just wipe it down? (I imagine putting alcohol would also dissolve the nail polish)

Also would it be possible you could post a tutorial w/pics or video? Seems simple enough, but always good to have a reference

It is easier to suck the LM up with the tube / syringe that comes with the purchase of liquid metal.

But yes, alcohol will make LM stick to the cloth that you use to rub it, LM doesn't dissolve.

he is right, conductonaut doesn't dissolve, it form little balloons of metal, in my case only 1 little ball come out from the gpu, really easy to remove from the shiny contact, i used isopropyl alcohol and cotton. as you can see, in my case was imposible to remove the metal square from the heatsink, seems like metal compound penetrated on the copper

Liquid metal is awesome - as you say, it doesn't need reapplication over time. Never bothered with tape or nail varnish on any of the systems I've applied it to. Unless you use too much, it should stay put. Worth buying two liquid metal tubes and using one as a test IMHO because the application procedure does take a few attempts to get right. Guess the nail varnish doesn't hurt at any rate.

when someone is new applying this type of thermal paste i highly recommend using black tape, becase bleed can occur, and more on a laptop. i started using black tape. this is my brother inspiron 7000 that i repasted

Nice! Good to see what the LM looks like after a year of use.

Can also look at using kapton tape instead of electrical tape.

i dont trust on that tape ... it becomes weak with time and become fragile, also the adhesive is not sufficient strong and the LM could pass under it easily

Kapton tapes are much better than 3M tapes, FYI.. haha.. but again those are super high grade ones..
