    Would the 17 r5 mobo fit in the 17 r4?

    Just curious if it would fit. If it does fit I can scrounge Ebay in a couple months and upgrade my 17 r4 mobo instead of buying it outright.

    It makes sense. But you’d prob need a heatsink to match.
    Be interesting to no if they’ll only change the chip in the mobo when new gpu is here or is that a new new laptop because of a different mother board altogether. I’d doubt it because the r5 be very short lived lol. But then you’d have a new service tag etc not that it would matter lol.

    Difficult to say, the black frame screws also go through the motherboard, these need to be alligned with eachother as well .In general if you swap the palmrest, black frame then it would be able to mount the motherboard & cooling. Buts thats pretty much swapping 75% of the laptop.But who knows maybe they re-use the black frame and palmrest. In that case only the motherboard and heatsink.
