Hey guys. I'm about to buy a new 15 and absolutely do not want 10 on it (well, maybe on one partition, but not as my main OS).

I'm a little paranoid to do a clean OS install, even though I know many on here do that, since I don't know what drivers I might need, what Dell gives me I now won't have, etc.

To be clear, simple stuff like NV drivers, audio, etc. I'm not concerned with, it's the myriad other things I don't know about (chip controllers, HDD controllers, etc.) Yes I know I get to have a bloatware-free system, but that also means none of the good stuff :\.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks.

Better install Windows 8.1 with something like start8 then

you lose performance with WIndows7 en a lower battery runtime.

But it is possible after you install all the drivers from the Dell website.

I haven't seen any threads about this in the past. Unfortunately, since the system isn't officially supported for Windows 7 you may have issues with some of the drivers. You can always try to look for them on the components manufacturer's sites.
